STOP House Bill 2525 — Please read, share, and act!

Faulkey Gully MUD Board of Directors wholeheartedly endorse the following statement from Jerry Holman with the Water Users Coalition:

I would encourage everyone to read HB 2525, the creation of the Lake Houston Dredging and Maintenance District, authored by State Representative Huberty. I have read HB 2525, including the (Analysis reports) and I have determined that I cannot and will not support this bill as is. To view the HB2525 Bill Analysis click here.

  • Unnecessarily expands government
  • False premise, dredging Lake Houston will not improve drainage
  • Taxation without representation, appointed directors with the authority to issue revenue bonds without public approval
  • Water users with their own drainage issues will be paying for Kingwood and Atascocita’s drainage problems
  • Water users have already paid over 400 million dollars for the Luce bayou inter basin transfer of water from the Trinity river to Lake Houston
  • Mixing The Ground Water Reduction Plan (Conversion to Surface water) Paid for by Water Users, and this bill (HB2525) & (SB1892) with it’s Vague “Trojan Horse” funding mechanism geared towards the Water Users wallet is just wrong and demoralizing to the good people who have paid billions converting to Surface Water.

When water users understand that they will be paying for the Drainage of Kingwood and Atascocita as part of their water usage fees to the water authorities, they will be rightfully upset and lose confidence in the original intent of the ground water reduction plans. This is a slippery slope and will harm trust and the continued efforts to convert from ground water to surface water. The Board of directors of this new Drainage district will be appointed by the City of Houston and the Harris County Commissioners Court (Not Elected by the Citizens)

We believe HB2525 & SB1892 will go to the Local Government Committee, chaired by Paul Bettencourt. I would suggest that everyone educate themselves on this issue and be prepared to write letters and testify if needed.

BOIL WATER NOTICE NO LONGER IN EFFECT

Residents of Faulkey Gully MUD,

On Thursday, February 18, 2021, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required our public water system, Faulkey Gully Municipal Utility District to issue a Boil Water Notice (BWN) to our customers.

Our system has taken the necessary corrective actions which include monitoring the disinfection levels and bacteriological quality testing of the water system. The District has provided the TCEQ with testing results which indicate that the water no longer requires boiling effective immediately

We appreciate your cooperation during this extreme winter event. Please continue to conserve water during this event.

If you have any further questions, please contact the District Operator at: (281) 367-5511

Boil Notice Updates

Due to inclement weather conditions, Faulkey Gully Municipal Utility District is under a Boil Water notice until further notice.

To ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify you that the water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Municipal Operations & Consulting, Inc. at (281) 367-5511.

Boil Water Notice for Community Public Water Systems

February 17, 2021 6:00pm

Faulkey Gully MUD has received the following notification from the North Harris County Regional Water Authority and therefore will comply. Our operator, Municipal Operations & Consulting, has worked continuously throughout this weather event to protect the water system, and we appreciate their efforts.

Due to reduced distribution system pressure resulting from the inability of the City of Houston to supply water to the North Harris County Regional Water Authority (the “Authority”), TX1013298, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the wholesale customers of the Authority to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact MOC, the operator at (281) 367-5511.

Water Notice – Water Safe to Drink and Use

Currently water within Faulkey Gully MUD is safe to drink and use. Water pressure has been lowered than normal to ease the stress on the water facilities during this emergency period, and our water operator is doing everything in their power to maintain water service.

If circumstances change, the District’s website will be updated. Any customers registered with our Water Smart system will also receive an updated email. If you are not registered yet, we highly encourage you to do so at this time.

Freezing Temperatures

Freezing temperatures are expected over the coming days. To limit issues that may arise because of the inclement weather, your Water District requests that customers do the following:

  1. Turn off, isolate, and drain your irrigation system and backflow prevention device.
  2. Unhook any outdoor water hoses attached to your faucets.
  3. Wrap outdoor pipes and faucets with foam, rags, or other insulating material. To keep the insulation in place, secure it with string, wire, or tape.
  4. Install insulation or covers over outside water faucets.
  5. Open cabinet doors under your sinks to provide warm air circulation.
  6. Circulate water in your home by allowing at least on sink to drip.
  7. Keep the temperature of your home above 55 degrees.

If a leak is detected inside your home, shut off the water to the house immediately to prevent further damage.
